| November 20, 2008 Check out the article from the Finishline Racing School. Finishline Article October 15, 2008 This past week I was able to attend the Finishline Racing School with the Women in the Winners Circle Driver Academy. I was able to work with Mike & Kristal Loescher and BJ McLeod, they taught me a new driving style and I was able to learn different things on chassis setup etc. I was able to test their Late Models at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida. I had a great time and learned a lot, I wish our season wasn't over because I would like to test their style of driving and setup with my car and at the local tracks. I would like to thank Mike, Kristal and BJ for taking the time to work with me and I would like to thank Lyn St. James and Michele Marquis and the Women in the Winners Circle Driver Academy for giving me the opportunity to attend the Finishline Driving School. September 25, 2008 Check out the gallery page for photos from Septemberfest! September 12, 2008 I will have my car on display at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) this Saturday and Sunday from 10 am - 5 pm in support of DCTC's Septemberfest. Please stop by and enjoy the open air shopping, farmers market, live entertainment and hot air balloon rides! Admission and parking is FREE! I hope to see you there! September 7, 2008 Tonight was the championship night at Raceway Park, I started the feature race in last position. I jumped to the outside and was passing cars like mad on the outside. I was up to 6th within a few laps. My car had tightened up too much with the cool weather, and I wasn't able to finish better than 6th. The points are final and I finished 3rd! I am looking to run the Wisconsin Challenge Series Race at Marshfield Wisconsin this next Sunday. THANKS TO BRYAN, MEGAN, AJ, MIKE, PEGGY AND ED FOR ALL OF THEIR HELP THIS SEASON!!! ALSO THANKS TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO CAME OUT TO THE RACES THIS YEAR! September 2, 2008 With only two nights to go, my car is getting very fast! I started 4th in the heat race and ran hard for 10 laps on the outside groove. I ended up finishing fourth in the heat. I was lined up on the outside of the front row for the second time this season. I was battling hard on the outside when two cars decided to make it three wide in turn two, I ended up being the unlucky car on the outside and was pushed up the track into to the loose dirt etc and spun out. I was then put to the back of the field. I was very determined to make it back up to the front of the field. I passed a few cars on the outside and set my sights on the battle for 4th and 5th. Those two cars wrecked right in front of me, but I was able to avoid them. On the restart I was 3rd row inside with 4 laps to go. I held my ground and stayed tight with the 2nd place car and watched as the rows of cars on the outside slipped back. I finished the race with a very close 3rd. I think if we would have had a couple more laps, I wouldn't have taken over second and possibly the leader. We ended up having a great night despite the setback early in the race. I also had the chance to race a full size school bus in the figure eight race! It was my first time driving a school bus and first time in a figure eight race. We did some bumping and banging and almost tipped my bus over, but I was able to come home with the Win! We only have one more week left of racing this summer at Raceway Park in Shakopee. I was tied for 3rd in points going into the weekend and I should have taken over third after this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me this next Sunday and if you are able to make it to the track, come down and celebrate with me after the races! Thanks for all of your support and keep checking back, as I will be posting where I will be racing for the remainder of the season! August 25, 2008 While the season is winding down, my car is getting better and better. We struggled a few weeks ago but are finding things that are making my car better. I started 6th in the heat race and was up to third within a few laps. With 2 laps to go I was making a move on 2nd place, when the car in fourth decided to drive under my car- I didn't wreck but he did get passed me- I finished fourth. The heat race finish lined me up on the outside of the first row for the feature. I had a good jump on the start but a few cars were wrecking behind us-caution #1 came out. After clearing the track of the wrecked cars, we had a complete restart. This time I lost a little bit of ground on the start and got to the inside in third place. I ran there for a few laps when another caution came out. I decided to stay low on the lane choice, now I am in fifth place. I got a good start and I thought the inside would be the place to be but the two outside cars got down in front of the second place car. It was a very tight race until another caution came out for cars spinning. This time we weren't given lane choice but instead lined up single file. The top ten cars ran nose to tail for the remaining laps and I came home fifth. I had a better car than what the finish shows but it was such a tight race that I didn't dare go to the outside and try to pass. There is two more races left at Raceway Park. I am currently third place in points. See ya next week at the track! August 20, 2008 This past Sunday, I was able to make the ASA Midwest Tour race at Raceway Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. We chased a tight race car all day and finally made the right adjustments before the 100 lap feature. I started 26th and was up to 16th with 11 laps to go, when a caution came out. Everything was falling into place, when my car died. I got a push start from the tow truck, but the car wouldn't stay running. I have had this happen before in long hot races- the ignition wires melted together. I wasn't able to finish the race and was scored 22nd. I was disappointed with not being able to finish the race, but I did have a very fast car and it was a great accomplishment in just making the race (37 cars took time and 26 started the race). I will be at Raceway Park this Sunday, and Megan and Bryan will be racing at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday. Only 3 more nights at Raceway- If you haven't made it out yet, there is still some time! Hope to see you there!! August 11, 2008 We found out that it was an electrical problem and not an engine problem that caused the oil pressure light to come on. After fixing that, we went and practiced at Raceway Park on Thursday. We made a few adjustments and were pretty quick. Megan drew lucky # 13 for me on Sunday, which put me on the outside first row of heat one, I ended up finishing fourth. My car was a little loose off so we made a few adjustments for the feature. I started 4th in the field of 22 cars. The car in front of me was one of the slowest cars in the field, and I found myself being freight trained to the back. I was able to get down on the inside groove in 14th position. I quickly was making my way back to the front. I was running fifth with 4 laps to go when a caution came out and lane choice put a few cars on the outside and I ended up 8th. The field of cars this weekend was full of people practicing for the ASA Midwest Tour race this next Sunday. I feel confident for the upcoming race because, I had a strong finish and my car is really starting to come around again. This is the biggest race of the year, and I hope all of you can come out and show your support! I was 5th in points going into this past weekend and 10 pts behind 4th and only 19 pts behind 2nd place- I should have made up a lot of points over the 4th and 3rd place- I will let you know as soon as they are updated- only 3 points nights left! HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE TRACK!! August 4, 2008 Another top ten finish is in the books. After going through my car this week and making a few adjustments, my car was pretty fast. For the first time in quite awhile my car was actually free in the middle. I finished third in the heat race after racing side by side with Donny Reuvers for about 9 laps, I beat him at the line by about a foot. After the invert, I started 3rd row inside. I was running in fourth with about a 1/2 straightaway lead on fifth through fifteenth. A caution came out just as I was going to pass for third. I maintained fourth after the caution came out and once again pulled away from the rest of the pack. Two cars in front of me wrecked and I had to go low off the track to avoid them. Right after that, my oil pressure light came on, I didn't know if the belt fell off the oil pump or if I had damaged the pump, we decided to stay on the track and finish the rest of the race. I had to take the outside lane on the restart and managed to hang onto 6th place-one more lap and I think I could have gotten back to fourth. I am taking my oil pump to my engine builder tomorrow and he is going to take a look at it. There wasn't any metal pieces in the oil filter or scavenge line so I don't think that I hurt anything inside the engine. Megan, Bryan and I are on our way to Kaukauna, Wisconsin right now for the ASA Midwest Tour race tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks to Dennis and Linda at Leos Upper Dells Bar for all of their hospitality this weekend. I hope you had a great birthday and we will see you at Raceway Park in a couple weeks! July 28, 2008 This past weekend was a busy one again. After getting back from Indy early Friday morning, I was able to work on my car a little bit and got it ready for this weekends race at Raceway Park. Saturday, Megan and I played in the Co-Ed State Softball Tournament. We play 3 games on Saturday and then one on Sunday morning. After the game on Sunday, we headed over to Shakopee. I finished second in the heat race and started 6th in the feature. After being shuffled to the back of the field, I was able to make it up to 8th place. We fought with a tight car all day and then made a few adjustments for the feature- the car wasn't tight anymore but it was very loose in and off. I will be going through it all this week and will hopefully have a better weekend next Sunday. I will post pictures of the luncheon soon. July 23, 2008 Today I left for the 6th Annual Women in the Winners Circle Luncheon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I am actually flying from Atlanta, GA to Indy right now (6:00pm). The luncheon is tomorrow and then I will be catching a flight home tomorrow night. This past week was a busy one: Bryan Roach raced Friday at Cedar Rapids Iowa (started 22nd and finished 17th), Saturday was 6 hours of practice at Iowa Speedway in Newton Iowa. Sunday was race day at Newton, Bryan qualified 18th and finished 14th. My sister Megan went with Bryan this weekend and was his spotter and also did tires, etc. I played in a kittenball tournament on Saturday in Hastings. Kittenball is played with a 22" ball and the men don't use gloves. We ended up the day being 3 and 2. On Sunday, I was back at Raceway Park in Shakopee. I finished fourth in the heat race after battling a very tight car. We loosened the car up for the feature and ended up going a little too far. I started fourth row outside and found myself as far back as 14th. I made my way up to about 7th and a caution came out. I took the outside on lane choice and was sitting fourth with 9 laps to go. I battled on the outside for the remaining laps and came home with a fifth place finish. I am currently 9 points out of 4th place. I will post photos of the luncheon next week. Thanks for your support and I hope to see you at the track! July 18, 2008 Last Sunday was feature night at Raceway Park, meaning we didn't run any heat races, just one feature. I started 6th in the feature and was taken out on the first lap, by the #91 car, he was on the inside and turned right in the corner and spun me out. I had to pit and pull out the fender and nose. Since I had to pit, I had to start at the rear of the field after a complete restart of the race. Within a few laps I was back up to 5th place, but wasn't able to gain anymore positions. I look forward to my next race, we have had a good car all year and I know that my feature win is coming soon! I played in a kittenball tournament today and we took 2nd place in the 1-1 bracket. See you all tomorrow at the track. July 7, 2008 This weekend finished better than it started. Saturday was the ASA Midwest Tour race at I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Megan and I were crew for Bryan Roach. Practice went well and we had a decent car all day and it was looking like we had the car to beat. We qualified 19th just missing the top 16 which would have locked us into the main. In the qualifying race, Bryan was running 3rd and in the last transfer spot, going into turn one the car just got loose and he tapped the car in front of him and they both went spinning. The right front spindle was bent along with a wrecked fender and a flat tire. We got the car fixed just in time for the last chance race. Bryan started 20th and finished seventh, but not good enough to make the main show. We packed up and headed back to get ready for Sunday at Raceway Park. This week back at the shop, Bryan and I went through the whole car and replaced the rack which I had been fighting with for a couple weeks and made adjustments to the setup. On Sunday it was like 90 degrees and the humidity level was high. The track only allowed us two practice sessions because the track was so hot. I finished fourth in the heat race after battling a tight car. We loosened the car up for the feature and hoped that it would be enough. I was second row inside, but the car on the pole decided to drop to the rear, so that put me on the pole! I fought with a tight car the whole race and ran side by side with a car on the outside for over 3/4 of the race. Two laps to go and I got loose coming out of turn two, I drove it in hard into three and caught the guy again. Coming to the checkers out of turn four, he was a head of me by 1/2 a car length. I stood on the gas coming out of four and fell less than a foot short of my first Feature win in a Super Late Model. Everyone came down and congratulated me on a great run and said that it was the best race they had seen out there in a long time. They loved it that we ran side by side for almost 30 laps and never touched. It was a great points night finish, but I really wanted that win. After checking the car out after the feature, we found that the right rear tire didn't grow to what it should have and we were shy 1/2" of stagger. That is what killed us, if the stagger would have been where it should have been I would have won it! My twin sister Megan also race at Raceway Park in the Powderpuff races. She has never driven a race car since driving my brother's car in our "tryouts", which was over 10 years ago. She drove Steve Cheever's # 8 Figure Eight car and led every lap of her event. Megan was all smiles in Victory Lane and came home with a trophy almost 4 feet tall! I will post pictures in Victory Lane next week. |
